It's hard to believe that it was a little less than a year ago that I sat here thinking about enduring my first cyclone (hurricane) ever. Now, having endured a 2nd one last night (Anthony) and waiting for our 3rd (potentially largest cyclone in history of Queensland), it's obvious to me that I've adapted to a fair bit over the past year or so. For example - I no longer have panic attacks upon seeing spiders or large quantities of ants...b/c they're everywhere, and I'm less afraid and more intrigued by this oncoming monster of a storm. Since I've hardly used this blog as I should, I decided that at this point I should probably use it to update our friends and family around the world about the quickly approaching Cyclone Yasi. So, this is our beloved cyclone: http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ65002.shtml - we are located just south of Bowen on the map. It's been stated that the eye of the storm is approximately 400 Kilometers or 240 miles across and that it will hit land at either a Cat 4 or 5. We've been advised that after this storm hits we should expect a minimum of 72 hours w/o power and stuck in our homes. I'll keep everyone posted as to any changes that occur before we lose power, or decide to get out of dodge...keep us in your prayers!!!! :)
Cheers!
